Overview
This article explains the default password system for Alfen charging stations. It clarifies the first and second default passwords, their usage, and how they provide for secure access to the charging station for maintenance purposes.
What is the first default password?
The first default password is delivered with the charging station on a leaflet. It is applicable to stations delivered from the factory as of 2022.
The password is randomly generated and provided to the customer inside the box, taped to the front of the charger. Customers should keep the leaflet in a safe place for future use.
What is the second default password?
The second default password is only applicable after a firmware update (from versions older than 5.x to 5.x or higher) or a replacement of the (smart) control board or when the firmware is updated from a version older than 5.x to 5.x or higher on the NG-Platform).
In these cases, the first default password is erased, and the charger autonomously generates a new password. This second default password can be retrieved from the webshop, where it is displayed as the second default password, in cases where two passwords are shown.

If the default password is changed to a custom password, the default password is erased and cannot be used again. The custom password must be stored securely.
