You can change the brightness of the display of your Alfen charging station at any time.
It is also possible to automatically dim the display using the ‘AutoDim' function. This function automatically dims the display after 60 seconds of inactivity on the charging station.
Note that for the 'AutoDim’ function to work, a working backoffice connection is needed for chargers on firmware 2.3.0 and earlier.
Applicable for charger models:
Eve Single Plus
Eve Double Plus
Twin 5 Plus
Changing the brightness of the display can be done as follows:
1) On location with the ACE Service Installer (ASI).
Use the Service Installer Setup, which can be downloaded from our ACE Service Installer page.
Request an account for the ACE Service Installer via this instructions.
First, the time and location must be configured and synchronised in order for this function to work correctly.
In the ACE Service Installer, go to the 'General' tab.
Click the ‘Sync time’ button on the bottom-right on the ‘Location’ tab
Date and time will now be synced via your laptop
On this page, you must also ensure the Latitude and Longitude are correctly input for the charger location
In the ACE Service Installer, go to the 'Interface' tab.
In the left menu, select the option 'Intensity'.
Adjust the brightness to the desired level.
100% is the brightest and 0% the least bright.
It is also possible to activate the AutoDim function here.Save the configuration
2) From the back office using OCPP commands
The documentation “ahp_backoffice_config_items” will be sent out with firmware 2.3 and onwards.
The introduction of Autodim Backoffice configuration in fw2.3 works with both ocpp1.6 and ocpp 2.0.1
Time: dims gradually based on the proximity to sunset/sunrise.
Starts dimming 30 minutes before sunset in steps: 100% to 75% (at 30 minutes before sunset) to 50% (at 20 minutes before sunset) to 25% (at 10 minutes before sunset).
Same pattern applies in reverse for sunrise. This function requires time synchronization of the charger
Location: accurate location configuration is needed. This is configured using the following ocpp commands:
Latitude: Latitude of the CS location, used to calculate dusk and dawn for automatically adjusting the display intensity during the night. Min -90, Max 90
Longitude: Longitude of the CS location, used to calculate dusk and dawn for automatically adjusting the display intensity during the night. Min -180, Max 180
Inactivity: dims directly to 10% after 60 seconds of inactivity. When activity is detected, brightness increases to the configured LightIntensity value
Qr: Display will not be dimmed if a QR code is displayed on the charging station.
However, the screen can be dimmed via the LightIntensity ocpp key if required.
When time+inactivity are combined:
During inactivity, dims to 10%. When active, brightness is set to LightIntensity value modified by the time-based dimming factor.
Activity for Autodim is either scanning NFC or plugging in/unplugging cable
Configuring Autodim through backoffice allows comma separated list of options, which means you can configure Autodim to work based on time, inactivity concurrently
Please note:
For AHP, the AutoDim function will be available from firmware 2.3.0 and higher.
This function will be available on the Eve Single Plus and Eve Double Plus and Twin 5 Plus chargers.
AutoDim (intensity of the LEDs/display after interaction is automatically dimmed based on dusk and dawn. After 60 seconds of no interaction with the charging station the LEDs/display will dim).
AutoDim can now be configured via the back-office. Back-office keys Longitude and Latitude only has an effect when AutoDim is enabled via the backoffice or ASI.
This AutoDim function is based on sunrise/sunset – so dimming will be inline with the time of day.
