Requirements for setting up a Smart Charging Network (SCN)
Overview
The Smart Charging Network (SCN) is designed to manage power distribution locally among multiple charging stations connected via a Local Area Network (LAN). This ensures efficient and balanced charging for all connected electric vehicles (EVs). This article describes the requirements for setting up a SCN including hardware and software specifications.
Hardware Requirements
All charging stations installed according to local regulations.
All charging stations must be fed from the same Point of Interconnection (POI).
Use CAT5e of CAT6 UTP/Ethernet cables for communication.
A switch or router with sufficient connection points. A free port for connecting the laptop for configuration/service is advised.
100 Mbps minimum, for more extensive smart charge networks an 1 Gbps network switch is recommended.
We advise to NOT use a PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch. Older versions of the control board can get damaged by using PoE switches.
Software Requirements
Charging stations must have the SCN feature (license) unlocked.
All stations must operate on the same firmware version.
Use the ACE Service Installer for configuration.
Ensure the network adapter is set to automatic IP and firewalls are disabled.
Known Limitations
Smart Charging Network is not supported on a grid without neutral
