All our products EV chargers comply to NEN:1010 (Netherlands), where we have the requirements for RCD operation and disconnection times.
The product standard for EV charging points, IEC 61851-1 provides two approaches:
In the Twin charger, a deliberate choice was made to use a Type B RCCB.
This complies with IEC 62423, which is also referenced by NEN 1010.
IEC 62423 distinguishes between:
• 4.1 AC residual currents: refers to IEC 61008-1 (and IEC 61009-1)
• 4.2 DC residual currents
An example of tripping criteria for a 30 mA Type B RCCB (63 A) used in our chargers:
AC residual current
• 30 mA → < 300 ms
• 60 mA → < 150 ms
• 150 mA → < 40 ms
DC residual current
• 60 mA → < 300 ms
• 120 mA → < 150 ms
• 300 mA → < 40 ms
