How to remotely reset a chargers owner password from the back office

ResetPasswordremotelyOCPPOwner

In case a customer has lost the password that was set on a charger, in some cases it is possible to remotely restore the owner password to the original password.

Criteria:

  • The charger most be online in the back office to receive the OCPP commands to restore the initial owner password

  • The Chargepoint Operator (CPO) must have access to the Alfen Webshop to obtain the original owner password

  • The charger firmware must be:

    •  NG-Chargers: Firmware version 7.4.0 and higher

    •  AHP-Chargers: Firmware version 2.5.0 or higher

Default Password Reset Procedure:

  • Use the back office's change-configuration function to send:

    • Key: PW-ResetChargerPassword

    • Value: True

  • Log in with the default owner password.
It's on the password sticker or leaflet that came with the charger.
The registered ChargePoint Operator can also look it up with the Object-ID in the Alfen Webshop.

  • In case the chargers controlboard has been replaced after production, the default password may fall back to the "second default" password from the webshop

Other ways to restore access to your charger

  • Temporary access key:
The CPO can send PW-SetTempAccessKey so an engineer onsite can log in with a temporary password.
From NG9xx firmware 7.4, that temporary user can change or reset the owner and end user passwords.
On AHP, this works from firmware 2.4.0 in ACE Service Installer.

  • Remote help from Alfen with the SSA code:
If none of the above works, Alfen support can help only on request made by the registered Chargepoint Operator due to the verification process.
This can only work when the charger was ordered with an active SSA-feature setting or it was enabled later in the chargers configuration.
The customer/installer has to be onsite and have a laptop connected to the charger.
They connect by TeamViewer to customers laptop, log in with the SSA code and set a temporary password.
