Firmware version 2.5.0
This page provides information on Firmware version 2.5.0
Version:
2.5.0
Release date:
11-05-2026

Platform:

AHP (Alfen Hardware Platform):

  • Twin4 V2G

  • Twin5

  • Twin5 Plus

  • Eve Single Plus

  • Eve Double Plus

  • Eve Public Flex

The firmware file has the extension *.tfw

Introduction:

Firmware release 2.5.0 is a release that incorporates several improvements, stability improvements, bug fixes and some main features. The main new features are:

  • Tamper detection

  • Support for a fixed IP address

Tamper detection

Tamper detection is a functionality on our Eve Single Plus, Eve Double Plus and Twin 5 Plus to send a status notification to the CPMS when any part of the casing is opened.
This is required functionality in the ENCS EV-311 and IEC62443-4-2:2019.

If a charger is equipped with tamper hardware, and when tamper mode is set to Strict, tampering with the charger (opening the enclosure) will now result in a security log and a security event notification being sent to the back office when using OCPP 1.6 Security Whitepaper (i.e. SecurityProfile > 0). Availability of tamper detection can be checked from the back office using the TamperDetectionAvailable configuration key. The tamper mode can be set to Strict from the back office using the TamperDetectionMode configuration key.

In the table below, an overview is shown of the different security levels and messing on tamper events.

OCPP version
Security level

OCPP 1.6

OCPP 2.0.1

Supported hardware:

  • Eve Single Plus

  • Eve Double Plus

  • Twin 5 Plus from May 2026 onwards

  • Twin 5 or Twin 5 Plus with an extension board is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2026

Fixed IP
In specific IT network configurations it is desired to set a static (fixed) IP address when using our products in a Smart Charging Network or to connect to specific energy meters or (Home) Energy Management Systems using Modbus TCP/IP. It is now possible to set a static IP address for specific chargers using the ACE Service Installer for the Eve Single Plus, Eve Double Plus and Twin 5 Plus.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue of not triggering error 214 when start tariff is disabled and price per kWh is enabled.

  • Fixed an issue where display showed error 102 and CPMS logging error 103.

  • Fixed an issue where transaction database size is not checked on OCPP2.0.1.

  • Fixed an issue where display did not show Incorrect card on Eve Single Plus.

  • Fixed an issue where a red X briefly was shown when switching from authorization mode from Plug&Power to RFID.

  • Fixed an issue where energy delivery was not stopped when a pre-authorized session was rejected by CPMS.

  • Fixed incorrect display message after recovering from a power outage when the transaction was started using a RemoteStartTransaction.

  • Minor changes in extra current of one socket can lead to spam of current changes on the other socket.

  • Fixed an issue where RFID authentication was still allowed after authorization timeout-error state without cable reconnection on Eve Single Plus.

  • Fix issue where increasing the maximum station current would not always be considered directly. Instead, it needed a reboot, a charging profile change or just waiting several hours. Now it should be taken into account directly without the need for a reboot.

  • Display issue with time change > 5 min and cable connected at one side: Fixed display bug when the tariff and/or system time changes on Eichrecht chargers.

  • Fixed issue where a socket would still get authorized by a remote start even if the Remote Start got rejected due to an invalid charging profile.

  • Fixed issue where in OCPP 1.6 the Composite Schedule returned by the charger could report the sum of the socket currents even if it's lower than the station max current.

  • MeterValues now respects the phase suffix. Configuring Current.Import.L1 returns only L1 current values, not all phases.
    A bare Current.Import still returns all phases (N, L1, L2, L3).

 Improvements

  • Improved error 115 handling when one of the socket boards connection is lost, with time delay of 5 minutes.

  • Active Load Balancing using TIC (Historical and Standard) are extensively tested, support was added to FW2.4, and improvements were made to the implementation.

  • Implemented a new error code (114) for a communication error with the auxiliary board (AB100) on the Eve Single Plus.

  • Implemented preparatory work for new Twin 5 Plus model with a Surge Protection Device (SPD).

  • Reduced firmware update time with 15%, including reduced log output.

  • Implemented dynamic runtime configuration for Plug & Charge (PnC) and certificate installation settings with changes applied on system reboot to avoid disrupting active charging sessions.

  • Enhanced the warning messages for uniqueqrconfiguration, qrcodeurl1 and qrcodeurl2 for long inputs.

  • Fixed issue where power factor detection would start running again if current offered to a car would ever drop below 13.2A and then go above 13.2A again. The power factor now only resets when the car gets disconnected. Also improves logging slightly, changing error logs to warnings.

  • Improved censoring secrets in OCPP 1.6 messages in the following messages

    • In the ChangeConfiguration message

      • AuthorizationKey

      • PW-SetChargerPassword

      • PW-SetTempAccessKey

      • NetworkProfile<1-4>

      • APN

      • APNUsername

      • ApnPassword

      • SimPin

    • In all messages: FTP://

  • Charge Point Operator can reset the owner password to default remotely by sending PW-ResetChargerPassword key with value True.

  • Added validation of PNG format to personalised display logo files The maximum logo file size is increased from 1MB to 5MB. The image dimensions are limited to 1920x1080.

  • Corrected the values stored when using DHCP for both wired and wireless network. The gateway now shows the gateway IP instead of the broadcast IP. DNS servers are now also updated correctly.

  • Fixed issue where in OCPP 1.6, a TxDefaultProfile might not be applied correctly when a transaction is started when the charging station is not connected to a backoffice.

  • Unwanted switching behaviour relay in suspended EVSE when Active Load Balancing is close to the minimum charging current. Added inaccuracy that solves this switching at the border of the safe current.

  • Updated the actively used phases for every new measurement or when used so that single phase cars are no longer seen as the phase for calculations. Also removed minimum needed 6A requirement for inactive phases on a socket.

  • 150% overcurrent corrections are now applied per phase instead of station wide as before.

  • Cyber security improvements related to EU Radio Equipment Directive.

  • Reduced the reboot timeout, the time before a station automatically reboots in case it is offline, from 24 hours to 4 hours.

Known Limitations:

The size of the export of log lines might be limited to the memory capability of the device running the ACE Service Installer.
The ACE Service Installer will show a prompt when a log export is requested which is too large.

Firmware update instructions
Please be aware that due to cybersecurity requirements, it is not possible to downgrade AHP firmware.
Additionally, an expiration date applies to the firmware file of this release. After the expiration date, the charging station will reject to update with this release and will require a newer release. The expiration date for this release is the 9th of September 2027.
