Overview

Alfen releases firmware updates regularly. New firmware releases bring with it improvements and new functionalities.

The firmware files are automatically downloaded from the Alfen update server when opening the ACE Service Installer configuration tool (provided that your laptop has internet access).
You can also subscribe to be added to the mailing list to get automatically notified on new firmware releases and other information.

7.4.0 26-05-2026	Alfen advises that chargers using this firmware are updated to firmware version 7.4.4 or higher Please see attached Release notes for a full overview. 7.3.0 30-10-2025	Please see attached Release notes for a full overview. Here are some major items: Fixed an issue where data from the P1 smart meter was not parsed correctly. This resolves issues with Active Load Balancing functionality in combination with a P1 DSMR smart meter. Fixed an issue where activating the WiFi access point caused an IP conflict with a TCP/IP energy meter and/or when connecting to the charging station with ACE Service Installer, Eve Connect or MyEve. Added checks to ensure that a Eichrecht public key can be recovered even when a power outage is too abrupt to properly store it. This caused Eichrecht charging sessions to be labelled as incorrect. Fixed an issue where an Eve Single charging station with Active Load Balancing went in safe mode and error 213 state after some time when connected to a Linky smart meter set to TIC Standard mode
7.2.0 01-07-2025	Firmware release 7.2 is a release that incorporates a number of general improvements, stability improvements, and bug fixes. Here are some main highlights. Metering Library update to bring more stability i.e. Memory usage, timing and retry option and many more Added the new functionality to delay the connect socket timeout indefinitely by setting the connection timeout to 0. 7.1.6 17-03-2025	Firmware Release 7.1.6 is a hotfix release. This firmware hotfix is a remedy for some issues affecting displays of chargers on the NG9-platform.
7.1.3 27-01-2025	Firmware Release 7.1.3 is a hotfix release. The change details covers versions 7.1.1, 7.1.2 & 7.1.3. 7.1.1: (Not released separately) Fixes an issue where the Start- and Stop Transaction messages were not sent for E-socket charging session (region: FR). Applicable for: French stations with an external E-socket 7.1.2: (Not released separately) Internal improvement to ensure the E-socket solution (7.1.1) works on the 7.1.x firmware without adverse effects to other transaction related OCPP messages. 7.1.3: Internal improvement to ensure the E-socket solution (7.1.1) works without adverse effects to transaction related OCPP messages specific for “Plug & Charge” charging sessions.
7.1.0 08-01-2025	Firmware Release 7.1.0 includes general improvements, stability improvements, bug fixes as well as preparations for new features. The Wireless features are available on Eve Single S-line and Eve Single Pro-line produced March 2023 or later. The production date can be found on the type label on the charging station. NG9xx 7.0.5-4328 17-09-2024	Firmware Release 7.0.5 is a hotfix release. Resolve issues with motor functionalities introduced in FW 7.0.x: Ensure that cover locks work as expected. Ensure that the socket unlocks in the event of a power loss. Fixes the issue where mDNS causes a crash during power loss.
NG9xx 7.0.2-4322 06-08-2024	Firmware Release 7.0.2 is a hotfix release. Fixed an issue where the timestamp on a StopTransaction message could be incorrect if the charging session was interrupted with a reboot or power outage. When using Giro-e authorizations on Eichrecht chargers, tariffs (price per session & price per kWh) no longer need to be configured in the charger. When using remote start functionality (OCPP functionality) on Eichrecht chargers, the expected tariffs (price per session & price per kWh) need to be configured in the charger, otherwise error 214 will be displayed.
NG9xx 7.0.0-4318 04-07-2024	Urgent advice not to update to this firmware if you use Giro-e authorization. Firmware update instructions: With the release of NG9xx Firmware 7.0.0, there is no longer the option between "A and B firmware versions", as first introduced with version 4.14. To update to firmware 7.0.0, please follow the steps according to below schedule: Solar Charging - Improved the detection of the number of phases that the EV supports. Support for OCPP NTP implemented. Dimming support added for standalones which have a configured location; time display support added for standalones with correctly configured times. FTP connections are now force closed when requesting a reset. Bootloader stage 2 has been updated to make use of the display. The CS shows a boot message and update progress when an update is being executed. The transactional UID will be shown on the display the first 60 seconds of an Eichrecht charging session that is started via an OCPP remote start transaction. This is only shown when the transaction is started via OCPP 1.6 or when using OCPP 2.0.1 when the token type is 'central'. The transactional UID is only shown during the charging screen, if any other screen is shown during the first 60 seconds, then it won't be shown, such as the 'waiting for power' or 'waiting for vehicle' screen.

This fix has slightly increased the update duration of chargers.
NG9xx 6.6.0-4240-BL 19-03-2024	AFIR compatibility (QR codes and price transparency) SCN performance Backward compatibility with older firmware versions is limited: The SCN will not function optimally if the chargers are not all on the same firmware version. Ensure that all chargers are operating on the same firmware. If all chargers are fully functional in an existing SCN + updates of the stations towards FW6.6 or higher is successful, there is no need to re-(re)initialize the SCN. If any changes are made to the SCN (e.g., adding or removing chargers), the SCN must always be reinitialized. Eichrecht support on OCPP 2.0.1 & Plug&Charge Network and Upgrade improvements Back-end communication changes For configuring an SCN, the latest Service Installer Application MUST be used. NG9xx 6.5.0-4217-BL 12-10-2023	Firmware release 6.5 is a release that incorporates a number of general improvements, stability improvements, bug fixes and some main features. Here are some main highlights. This update offers substantial benefits in terms of stability, performance, security, and feature expansion. Support for Latest Standards: The updated version offers compatibility with the latest industry standards and protocols, ensuring that our product remains up-to-date with modern security requirements. Fixed issue that caused the charging station to crash after failed firmware update Fixed an issue where the ASI could not connect to the charging station anymore. This was caused when the ethernet cable was unplugged while a client (like ASI) was connected.
NG9xx 6.4.0-4210-BL 09-08-2023	Firmware release 6.4.0 is a release that incorporates a number of improvements, added functionalities and bug fixes. Some highlights: Added support for Icelandic, Hungarian and Czech display language. We now wait a sensible amount of time (30s) when the P1 meter is disconnected or communication fails. In that case we go to safe current, instead of 0A. The display text while scanning RFID has now been changed to Scan Card. Fixed a timing issue where the charging station would incorrectly detect simplified mode-3 charging (with 10 or 16A limit), even on cars supporting normal charging. Fixed an issue where the periodic connection check was executed when the charging station was configured as a standalone charging station. This meant that the charging station was unnecessarily disconnecting the Ethernet connection, for example the modbus slave connection, even when that was not supposed to happen. NG9xx 6.3.0 30-05-2023	Firmware release 6.3.0 is a minor release that incorporates a number of improvements, added functionalities and bug fixes. Some highlights: Added support for the Romanian language. Fixed bug where chargepoint status was not communicated to back office after updating firmware. P1 telegrams are now parsed at the rate that they are received, without affecting the timing of the application components consuming the P1 telegrams
NG9xx 6.2.0 27-03-2023	Firmware release 6.2.0 is a minor release that incorporates a number of improvements and bug fixes. Implemented autodetect of Giro-E functionality for NFC readers so new revisions no longer have to be implemented manually. Fixed an issue where the P1 power values were not parsed correctly. ACE Service Installer version 3.6.6_163 is required.
NG9xx 6.1.0 01-03-2023	Compliance features for UK smart charging + anti-tamper detection Connectivity improvement Improvements on network profiles and OCPP2.0.1 The use of Network profiles with setting up a Backoffice connection. The new ACE Service Installer version 3.6.6_163 is required.
NG9xx 6.0.0 08-02-2023	OCPP 2.0.1 improvements. A new bootloader Note: because of the new bootloader it is not possible to downgrade this firmware. The use of Network profiles with setting up a Backoffice connection. When setting up a Backoffice connection on a charger with FW6.0 or higher, ACE Service Installer version 3.6.5.162 or higher is required.

NG9xx 5.6.0-4104 24-05-2022	Firmware release 5.6.0 is a release that incorporates a number of general improvements, stability improvements, security improvements and bug fixes. There are no major changes. • Updated Italian display texts to more logical sentences. • Added support for new internal energy meter • No longer log Relay error at startup if the RCD is tripped too. And log RCD trips while outside of charging sessions.
NG9xx 5.5.1-4099 29-04-2022	Version 5.5.1 is a hotfix release required to support a hardware change in our dual socket stations. It is recommended to update your charging station to this latest version 5.5.1. Attached you will find the firmware release notes, back-office configuration key list, error code list and the firmware upgrade file of the version 5.5.1 to update your charging stations. In addition you will find the Hardware Release Document describing the changes. Following the hardware change and corresponding firmware update it is not possible to downgrade charging stations produced with 5.5.1 to a version before 5.5.1.
NG9xx 5.5.0-4092 12-04-2022	Firmware release 5.5.0 is a release that incorporates a number of general improvements, stability improvements and bug fixes. There are no major functional changes. It is now possible to retrieve more information about the modem from the webserver. Improve operation for 3-phase charger in single phase installation. Fixed an issue with some type of vehicles on a Belgium electricity net, where the charging station reported an error when the vehicle wanted to restart the charging session after a while. Properly handle the response of the modem. Improved communication while using the service installer.
NG9xx 5.4.3-4073 14-02-2022	Version 5.4.3 is a hotfix release to mitigate an issue in charging stations produced from September 2021 onwards: • the modem may become defective resulting in loss of communication and, in turn, loss off functionality. It is therefore strongly recommended to update your charging station to this latest version 5.4.3
NG9xx 5.4.0-4068 14-01-2022	Firmware release 5.4.0 is a release that incorporates a number of general improvements, stability improvements, security improvements and bug fixes. There are no major changes. The firmware will be installed on charging stations produced 13 January 2022 onwards.
NG9xx 5.3.1-4063 16-12-2021	Release 5.3.1 is a hotfix release to support a hardware update for our single socket products. This firmware will be installed on all charging stations produced 9 December 2021 onwards. Eve Single S-line, and Eve Single Pro-line units produced with the new hardware and with firmware 5.3.1 should not be downgraded to an older firmware version! Doing so will result in a non-functional unit.
NG9xx 5.3.0-4061 06-12-2021	Firmware release 5.3 is a major release that introduces Password Security. With the introduction of this security measure, each charging station is secured with a password. From now on the MyEve app and Service Installer Application require a password to access the product. This hands over control to the owner of the product. Make sure to ask the owner for a password before connecting to the station. The implementation of this major release can impact operational processes and requires management of passwords. Please carefully read the release notes for a more detailed description.

NG9xx 4.15.7-4054 28-10-2021 Full Downloadable Version	Firmware release 4.15.7 is a hotfix release that incorporates a single bug fix to improve the robustness of mobile connectivity. It is strongly advised to update existing chargers to this firmware release if you have Eve Single chargers manufactured after May 2021.
NG9xx 4.15.6 18-10-2021 Full Downloadable Version	Firmware release 4.15.6 is a hotfix release that incorporates a single bug fix. Charging stations using secure backend connections rely on valid security certificates which are periodically updated. This hotfix avoids the risk of the charging station entering a reboot loop caused by a security certificate renewal. Therefore this firmware update is urgently advised for customers using secure backend connections.
NG9xx 4.15.5 07-09-2021	Supports the new Eichrecht energy meter requirements.
NG9xx 4.15.4 21-07-2021	Supports the use of different power meters inside the charging station.
NG9xx 4.15.0 17-05-2021	Added a check to verify if a web client connects from the local network, avoiding external access via the mobile network. Added a firmware size check when loading a new version preventing an oversized file to cause an overflow. Added a maximum nesting depth for json messages avoiding stack overflows.
NG9xx 4.14.0 06-04-2021	The most important change is the update of the encryption keys, which will have impact on the updating mechanism of CPO’s. The encryption keys used in firmware version 4.12 and earlier are referred to as “A”. The encryption keys used in the newer firmware are referred to as “B”. NG9xx 4.12.0 15-12-2020	Removal of legacy cipher suite AES128-SHA (which used CBC and SHA-1); Charge only 1 phase if installation is 1 phase, even when the charging station is capable of charging 3 phases; Improved OCPP 2.0 functionality for conformity to the OCPP 2.0.1 json schema
NG9xx 4.8.0	OCPP 2.0.0 pilot implementation. Disclaimer: This implementation of OCPP 2.0.0 is not fully compliant with the OCPP 2.0.1 specifications that were released in April 2020. Our current implementation is based on the original OCPP 2.0.0 specifications with changes that were proposed in various errata documents. Please investigate the differences with the OCPP 2.0.1 specifications before implementing on a large scale. This pilot release should be used for testing purposes only. A few new functionalities of this pilot release which are interesting to try out can be found below. Device Management Device Management is a feature which adds value for Charge Point Operators who manage a network of charging stations. It provides the following functionality: • Inventory reporting • Improved error and state reporting • Improved configuration
